Mini Taco Salad Bowls

I started making a different meal and it kind of morphed into this.

I used mini spring form pans to make tortillas into a bowl shape.  I then put them in the oven at 375 degrees for about 8minutes until golden brown.

While the tortillas were in the oven I browned, drained and taco seasoned a pound of ground beef.

In a large mixing bowl I combined 2 heads of chopped romaine lettuce, one can of black beans rinsed and drain, one chopped tomato and 1/2 cup of corn.

Then I put everything together in the tortilla bowl and added shredded cheese.  My husband loved it.

Bed Skirt (no sewing)

I have been working on decorating my girls' room.  I showed you the quilt for one of my daughter's last week.  I then made a bed skirt to complete the bed.  I made a tutu bed skirt.  It was really easy, a little time consuming (put on whatever TV show you need to catch up on) and cost less then $10.

First I cut two strands of yarn the length of the bed, then I cut 6 yards of tulle into 2-3 inch thick strips and then cut again in half length wise.  Then I just started tying on the tulle onto the yarn.

With how the bed is built I hammered in nails in different parts of the bed and wrapped the yarn around each nail for the length of the bed.

All it needed was a little fluffing and it was ready to go.

Homemade Fruit Snacks

So I have been seeing this all over pinterest for homemade fruit snacks.  I found that it looked really easy so I tried it, the recipe is here.  My kids, and husband loved them.  I thought that they were good but tasted like really stiff jello jigglers.

Anniversary Gift

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary last month.  I was having a hard time figuring out what to do for him.  So I combined a couple of ideas that I saw.

We celebrated 6 years this year so I found 6 pictures of us throughout the time we have been married.  I used mats that I found at Walmart and put the picture inside of them and then added a little message of something that I loved about my husband, and I tried to have it tie in with the picture.

I wrapped each picture individually and wrote a time that he was suppose to open it on the wrapping.

I hung the pictures under a sign that my husband gave me for my first mother's day, using wire and clips.

Infant Tutu

I was over at a friend's house and she had out a tutu skirt similar to this on the table.  She told me that her sister-in-law bought it for her and after looking at it I decided that I could easily make it and for tons cheaper then it was bought for.  Total it cost me about $2.  I already had the headband and a yard of tulle was $1.49.

I first cut the whole yard into strips and cut each strip in half.

With each strip I folded it in half and tied it onto the headband and continued around the band.

I then went around again the next row up this time I went every other hole.

Here is the finished product.

Ballet Quilt

I finally finished my daughter's quilt.  It didn't take as long as my son's quilt did (you can see it here) but I love how it turned out.

On the border I sewed little ballet slippers its kind of hard to see.

It has turned a little colder here so I got it done at the right time.  My daughter has been snuggled underneath it every night so far.

September's Monthly Cleaning Goal and Where have I been

The only explanation that I have for where I have been is that life has been happening.  My daughter started school and then I also had a baby.  My mom has been here helping out for the last week and half and it has been nice but I have also been getting some projects done this summer that I can't wait to show all of you.

Here is the cleaning goal for September.

Baseball Quilt

I have been working on quilts for my kids.  I'll show you how I did it with my daughter's quilt because that it the one that I have been taking pictures of the process.  I finished my son's quilt and I have to share it with you guys.  I forgot to take a picture of it on his bed, but when I put on my son climbed right up on the bed and started snuggling with the quilt.   I'll take that as a good sign.

Toy Room Closet Before and After

So this closet kind of became the one that we threw stuff into and shut the door then walked away from, when we moved in.  It was driving my kind of bonkers at how bad it was in there so finally I tackled it the other day during naptime.  Here is my before (above and below).

So first things first I emptied the whole closet out top to bottom.

I dragged a set of shelves that we had up from downstairs on there I put the games, and videos that were in the boxes.  I took the sweatshirts out of the pile of coats then hung the coats back up.  I am no able to walk into the closet and I was also able to put the vacuum in there as well.

Here is a fuller top to bottom view.
