My son asked for a Star Wars cake, and this is what I ended up doing. He was so excited.

Boy Birthday Party
Let me tell you right now, I am not one to do birthday parties. True most of the time when it comes to the kids birthdays I'm either pregnant (like 8-9months along), we are in the process of packing up the house or we just live in an area that we really don't know that many kids their age. Whatever the reason I decided I should give my oldest son a party he hadn't had one before and he was turning 7. This kid LOVES Captain America so we went that direction. I wish that I had gotten more pictures but it was just me so when you are in charge its hard getting the pictures as well. :)
I made this Captain America shield cake for him. He thought it was the coolest thing.
Building this pinata I used old cereal boxes and cut out two circles and then cut out a wide strip that went all the way around the circles and taped it together. I will create a tutorial soon on the entire process. I decorated this pinata using the same process that I described here
I bought superhero masks for the boys to wear and made a giant shield where the kids played pin on the star.
It was a hit with the boys. I didn't do much else after playing the game and breaking open the pinata. I just let them all play with each other and have. My son thanked me later so I'll mark it a success. :)

Monkey cake
Earlier this month my little guy turned two. We call him a little monkey so I made him a monkey cake. I used a round cake pan, and a small mini cheesecake pan to bake the cake in. Then I cut the small circle in half and used that as the ears.

Pinatas!!! Part 2: The Decorating of
Here is a shot of one of the pinatas that we made as it is getting hit.
Now that we have made the pinata forms it is time to decorate!! It wasn't really hard just a little time consuming.
First I cut tissue paper into big wide strips. I wanted to cover the newspaper a little bit so it didn't show through. I found that painting the glue on was much easier and I could cover more space with less glue.
When I put a new piece of tissue paper on I over lapped it then put glue on it soaking it through so it would stick.
Next I made tons of long strips of fringe. This one was smaller then I quickly started making them long so I didn't have to glue as many on.
I then folded the fringe so then fringe part would stick out like the store bought ones.
I glued the strip to the pinata the same way at the covering layer. Be careful that you don't get it too wet because it will start to make the form get soft then you have to be really careful putting the fringe on.
I continued the process until half of the form was covered. I let this sit overnight and continued the same way on the other side.
Here is the completed pinata!!!!

Pinatas!! Part 1: The making of
My son's birthday is on Cinco de Mayo so we had to make a pinata for him. Somehow we ended up with two of them made ;) The process is really easy. First of all use a balloon as your frame.
Then make a mixture of water and flour to make a watery paste. My husband did this part and he didn't specifically measure out the flour and water.
Using torn up pieces of newspaper; dip the newspaper in the paste and wipe off any excess paste then lay it on the balloon overlapping the pieces. Continue until the balloon is covered.
Then allow it to dry overnight and repeat creating a second layer. We did two layers and it was perfect. When it is completely dry you can pop the balloon and cut a hole in the bottom of the pinata to get the balloon out and fill it with goodies.

Homemade Wrapping Paper
My daughter was invited to her first birthday party last weekend, she was so excited. We went to wrap the present right before leaving to the party and I realized that the only wrapping paper that we had was Christmas themed. I didn't have enough time to run to the store so this is what we did.
I found some tissue paper that I had and pulled out what stamps we had and let my daughter go to town stamping the paper. She thought that it was so much fun and she was so proud of the fact that she was able to make the wrapping paper for her present.
I thought that it turned out pretty cute for a last minute idea and with just a couple of minutes to do it.

I thought I would share the cake that I made for my hubby's birthday last year. This one I'm really happy about and can't believe that I was able to get the fondant that black, it started out white.

Golf Cake
I hope that everyone had a nice long weekend. We did!! We were able to spend the day together shopping in a city that is about a hour and half away. Also yesterday was my husband's birthday, he asked for a chocolate cake but I was able to decorate it however I wanted. :) So this is what it ended up being, since his present was a new set of clubs.
Its not the best one that I have done with fondant but you can kind of figure out what it is. Part of my problem was that my fondant was too soft so it was sticking to itself really bad. Note to self: next time make the fondant the day before.

Birthday Party!!
We had a few friends over for my daughter's birthday, I decided this afternoon that I wanted some kind of banner up, so I pulled out my Cricut really fast and made this:
I made her cake. She requested a Princess cake, if I wasn't so pregnant I would have done more for the cake but I still like how it turned out.
During the day she got into the cake!! It is amazing to me how she decided to pick at it and how its completely not like what most kids do! She took a chunk out of in between every picture.
Remember the crowns that I made here. Here is the birthday girl showing off her crown.
