Piano repurposing part 6: Piano Harp Trellis

When we decided that we were going to repurpose this piano we wanted the projects to be useful things and to be part of our lives.  The piano harp sat all winter covered at the side of the house, just kind of in the back of our minds.  A couple of weeks ago we were working in our backyard.  Suddenly it hit both of us what we needed to do with the piano harp.

The first thing we did was spray paint the back of the harp to prevent rusting and give it some protection.

Then we dug and we dug.   We dug a trench that was about 6' wide and 2' deep we wanted to make sure that it wasn't going to go anywhere.  I forgot to take pictures as we were burying the bottom of it in the ground.  We put rocks in front of and behind of the base of the harp inside of the hole and then filled it in.  The harp isn't going anywhere, between the rocks, the depth of the hole, and how much we packed in the dirt around it, both of us really pushed on it to make sure it wasn't going to move on us or fall over.

We added a couple of climbing roses, now to wait for them to fill in, we are excited to see it at the end of the summer.

Garden Update

I promised that I would show you want our garden looks like now and what we have done.  We live in an apartment so we don't have a yard really to plant a garden.  So for my birthday my dad bought me a few grow boxes.  (He is awesome!!)  I was able to get all of the plants into the grow boxes and they have just taken off and with all of the rain that we have gotten lately I haven't even had to water them.

There are peas and pumpkins in this one.

The peas have pods set on them, I'm so excited to start picking them soon.

Our pepper plants that have survived!

This box has peas, a green bean plant and a pumpkin plant.

Our Garden

I have missed having a garden, finally this year I did something about it.  My daughter and I bought seeds and started them inside.  They sprouted pretty fast and grew even faster I had to plant them pretty fast and it was still freezing outside.  I did have some pots that I ended up putting them in so they could continue growing.

I'll update you next week on what our garden looks like now.  My daughter has loved watching the plants grow and develop not to mention that she loves watering them everyday.
