Easy Grill Cleaning

We have a little grill that we use all of the time.  Here is a trick that I use to clean it in a matter of a couple of minutes.

I make a ball of aluminum foil.

 Then I rub/scrub the grill with the aluminum foil.  I do it on both sides of the grill.  I position the grill in the sink so all of the gunk that comes off lands in there and I can scoop it up easily with the drain plug.

In a matter of a couple of minutes the grill looked like this. 

Teacher's Gift

Here are the gifts that I put together for my daughters teacher's this year as well as a couple of smaller ones for some of the other people that work in the school.

I picked up the baskets at the dollar store, they are two for a $1.  Then I put two of the jars of sugar scrub and a couple of balloons filled with playdough in the baskets.  The balloons are suppose to be those relaxers that you have tons of fun squeezing (at least I do.)  Then I wrapped them up in tissue paper added the tag and there you go!

The smaller gifts are very similar.

These were really simple and easy to make.  They were inexpensive less than $10 for all of them if you are really tight on a budget like we are.

Homemade Sugar Scrubs

I didn't realize how easy it was to make these.  I'll show you later this week what I made them for but meanwhile it was one of the easiest things I have done.  I used these directions.

Toenail Flowers

I used to get pedicures all the time, then I went away to college, got married and had kids.  I can't even tell you the last time that I one.  Something that I miss about them is getting the flower on your big toenail.  I'm not sure why I didn't think of it until recently but I decided that I could do it myself.  I have to warn you I'm sorry about the quality of the pictures I took these at night and the lighting in my house is awful.  Here is my way of doing toenail flowers.

After you have painted your nails your favorite color of nail polish and let them dry.

I used a sharpened pencil and dabbed it into acrylic paint.  Then I used a nail to spread the paint into a petal.  I don't have any paint brushes small enough so this is my makeshift.

I continue until I have a flower.  Then after cleaning the paint off of the pencil and the nail.

 I add a dot for the center.

I do the leaves in the same way that I do the petals then I let it dry.

It's not as nice as when someone else does it but it makes me smile when I look down and see them.

Fabric Headbands

Remember my post from yesterday where I made this:

Well I had left over fabric from the shirt so I decided that I would try to make some headbands that I found here .  They were incredibly easy to make.

 

$1 Shirt redo

I bought this shirt at the dollar store the other day.  It is a size adult small and the purple fabric is a scrap that I had laying around.  The wheels in my head started turning that I could make this into a cute shirt for my daughter.

First I took the sleeves off and turned the shirt inside out. I laid one of her shirts on top of the big one.  Then using her shirt as a guide I cut the big shirt a little bigger then her shirt.

As I was putting this post together I realized that I didn't take any pictures over the next few steps.  What I did was sewed it together including a hem at the bottom.  I also put the sleeves back in the shirt.

I turned the shirt outside out and with a pencil drew a butterfly in the upper right corner of the shirt.

And bottom left corner of the shirt.  I placed the scrap fabric under each drawing and pinned it to the shirt. 

I sewed along my drawings as best as I could and then cut the shirt inside the butterfly.

Here is the finished shirt.  I had extra fabric from the bottom of the shirt so I also made a couple of headbands.
