It's my son's first Christmas so he needed a stocking. Growing up we had a tradition that we used the same stockings every year and I still use it. Now as a mother, I love having that memory growing up and would love my kids to have the same memory also then they are all the same size and I don't have to hear about who has a bigger stocking and who doesn't ;) I bought some velvet to use for this stocking.
I forgot to take a picture before I cut it out, but I used my stocking as a pattern cutting bigger than the actual stocking allowing for a seam allowance. I cut 2 pieces.
Then I cut some trim the same width as the stocking.
I made a little hem around the top of both pieces.
Then I sewed on the trim to what side I wanted to be the front of the stocking.
I made a tube and folded it in half creating a loop to hang the stocking off of. Then I placed both pieces right sides together and sewed them together.
I sewed the heel and toe of the stocking twice to give it extra support.
Flip it outside out and voila!! Your easy to make stocking. I then used puffy paint and wrote my son's name on the stocking.
I love the fabric you used for this stocking! Ya know, I just made one out of an old sweater and didn't even think to re-inforce the toe/foot part! Good idea! And, I just became a new follower of your blog. :D
