When we decided that we were going to repurpose this piano we wanted the projects to be useful things and to be part of our lives. The piano harp sat all winter covered at the side of the house, just kind of in the back of our minds. A couple of weeks ago we were working in our backyard. Suddenly it hit both of us what we needed to do with the piano harp.
The first thing we did was spray paint the back of the harp to prevent rusting and give it some protection.
Then we dug and we dug. We dug a trench that was about 6' wide and 2' deep we wanted to make sure that it wasn't going to go anywhere. I forgot to take pictures as we were burying the bottom of it in the ground. We put rocks in front of and behind of the base of the harp inside of the hole and then filled it in. The harp isn't going anywhere, between the rocks, the depth of the hole, and how much we packed in the dirt around it, both of us really pushed on it to make sure it wasn't going to move on us or fall over.
We added a couple of climbing roses, now to wait for them to fill in, we are excited to see it at the end of the summer.
I know it has been a few years, but it would be cool to see how those roses grew in. I am trying a similar project with our old piano harp this year!
