At the end of the summer last year my daughter was given this dress. It fit her around but it was too short, so I added a few inches of fabric on the bottom. My daughter now wears it every week and loves it.
great job and yes we have did this before some times our kids grow up rather than out and we can extend the clothes by adding a ruffle or some extra fabric
